This time of year is about giving. We all love receiving gifts, but even more we love giving them. Every National Panhellenic Conference member organization engaged in giving back and has at least one inter/national philanthropy. Here is a snapshot of our member organizations' giving:

  • 25 member organizations report a total of $34,093,349 raised for inter/national philanthropy activity.

  • 23 organizations report a total of $25,143,897 raised among collegiate members for their inter/national philanthropies.

  • 12 organizations report collegiate members volunteered a total of 2,376,587 hours with inter/national philanthropy partners.

On each campus, sororities do their best to educate potential new members about their national and local philanthropies, fundraising efforts and volunteerism opportunities. However, you may have questions about what specifically sororities do to raise money. The truth is, it is different for each sorority on every campus so you won’t know if a sorority hosts a 5k or a burger night until you meet them during recruitment. Also, depending on location, sorority members are able to volunteer at local venues related to their national or local philanthropies, such as a nursing home or children’s hospital.

To give you a better understanding of how NPC sororities and their members get involved with their philanthropies, here are some examples of the different events sorority women hosted on their campuses this year:

"Alpha Chi Omega hosts Love Shouldn’t Hurt week"

"UK Alpha Delta Pi Supports 10th Annual Amateur Boxing Match to Benefit Charity"

"Chi Omega raises money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation"

"Tri Delta offers pancakes for charity"

"Phi Mu hosts annual BonnaMU festival"

"Sigma Kappa Sorority raises funds for Alzheimer’s Research"

"Zeta Tau Alpha hosts breast cancer walk Race to Live"
